Bleeding Through
Lyrics and Music by Ted Horrell

I would have my act together if I had a maid
I would be more relaxed if my bills were paid
I’d be the life of the party if I was invited
I would make you feel better but I just get so excited

I’d have gotten that promotion but I got fired
I would be in better shape but I’m so tired
I’d have made a good impression but I blew my lid
It’d be a lot cooler if you did

If our ifs and buts were all candy and nuts
Then I’d be busting at the gut and so would you
If all the dreams we keep inside were all horses we would ride
But for now I had best lace up my shoes
And walk around the town to the sound of my real life bleeding through

I was gonna be be a cop, but I got arrested
I’d make a killing on the stocks if I was invested
I would tell you how do it if I’d only learned it
I’d fall back on my degree if I’d only earned it

It seems that every road I travel is uphill (I’m feeling flat) (Who choose this path)
At the end of each free lunch I catch the bill (When will this pass)
When will the bird of paradise alight on my windowsill?
I’m starting to think that it never will

Unless our ifs and buts turn into candy and nuts
Then I’ll be busting at the gut and so will you
If all the dreams we keep inside become horses we shall ride
But for now I had best lace up my shoes
And walk around the town to the sound…
